“To be yourself in a world in which is constantly trying to make you into something else is the greatest of accomplishments.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Everything every day is pushing you to be something else, to blend in, be inconspicuous. Anonymous. Once you become anonymous, just another, you are disposable. No one cares what happens. And then, to me, is the greatest of failures. You have given up upon yourself. You yourself no longer care what happens to you.
You don’t have to be the center of a legend, have a town named after you, or be a multi-billionaire. Not saying I’d complain if that happened to me. But be memorable. Not to everyone, but to those who matter the most. Stand out, do something you love, regardless of what the world things. Make an impression that one won’t forget. Not saying you have to wear neon strips and plaid together and a red rubber nose, I don’t even mean making a statement with your apparel. Be you. If you wear nice things everyday by your own choosing, then wear them. If you are shy and quiet and hate the spot light, but help out your elderly neighbor, and then do it. There is no reason to seek the world to see you. Be kind to others; give them a reason to remember you. Whoever you are, don’t let the world intimidate you. Don’t give up on being you; don’t change because society wants you to. Do what you do, and you’ll inspire someone. A complete stranger. But if you were the same as everyone else, they wouldn’t have an idol, someone to look up to. And you, or they may never reach success. All because you didn’t have the guts to be unique, to do something radical. To be out of the normal. Don’t let others tell you that you can’t because it makes them uncomfortable.
